Oh how I completely agree!! I’ve actually been working on a letter to Isis about the traits I hope she acquires through our encouragement or just from life itself & one of my big ones is to not be afraid to question & investigate & make her own decisions. Integrity, strength & spirit. Freedom. Even if that is freedom from me to a certain extent. I hope our children learn to live with conviction, unafraid to question authority or popular opinion in order to live by Truth.
Letters to Everly.
We will do our best to teach you right from wrong, to listen to and respect your elders and to be a good citizen, neighbor, and friend - but we also hope to instill in you the courage to question authority when you feel that something is unjust, unwarranted, or just plain wrong. Even when that authority is us.
The bandwagon is over rated. The popular crowd isn’t always right. and sometimes, rules are made to be broken (I mean really, how can you put a ‘do not climb ’ sign on a perfectly low branched tree?)
Love,
your mama
